MARAC

MARAC enables professionals to work together to ensure the safety of people living in Wandsworth who are at high risk of serious harm or homicide following domestic violence and abuse.

Through the MARAC:

  • Different organisations can share confidential information in order to gain a clearer picture of the situation
  • A referral will have been made to an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate who will be in contact to offer support and discuss a safety plan with you
  • The MARAC panel includes professionals from Wandsworth Housing Options team who can help support emergency accommodation where necessary and requested
  • Information about those at risk will never be shared with alleged perpetrators of abuse

Levels of Need Framework

This document is a vital tool that underpins the local vision to provide the right support for children and their families at the earliest opportunity - right through to specialist and statutory interventions, when needed to ensure the welfare and safety of vulnerable children and young people.

It aims to offer a clear framework and promote a common understanding of levels of need for all practitioners within all agencies.

Pan London Child Exploitation Protocol

The Pan London Child Exploitation Protocol was launched on 18 March 2021 by the Metropolitan Police. This replaces the Pan London CSE Protocol. It builds on the good practice documented in the 2017 CSE Protocol but extends the remit to cover all forms of exploitation. As previously, it is a Police led, multi-agency document, designed to complement the CP procedures.

Child protection in the home

Wandsworth is committed to developing an ambitious, long-term strategic approach to ending violence against women and girls (VAWG). Our strategy is based on a preventative model that has, at the heart of it, plans to deliver the cultural and behavioural shifts needed to deliver long-term change in men’s attitudes to women. Most importantly, this strategy is informed by victims and survivors

Child Death Overview Procedure

The WSCP has arrangements in place to respond to and review child deaths in their borough, as outlined in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and the Child Death Statutory and Operational Guidance England (Oct 2018).

The WSCP follows the St Georges Hospital Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Child Death Reviews (April 2021) drawn up by St Georges Hospital/South West London Clinical Commissioning Group. These guidelines will be used in the event of an unexpected child death and will be followed by every agency.
